A Feed the Beast FTB modpack is a collection of Minecraft community modifications (Mods) used to extend the look and feel of vanilla Minecraft.
If you’re new to Modpacks and Feed the Beast you’ll need to install the Launcher first. A launcher is what Installs, updates, and plays modpacks on your computer or a multiplayer server. In 4 easy steps install, launch & connect to your FTB server.

I took a little bit of time and made a.feedthebeast folder in my roaming next to.minecraft. By default, all of the Modpacks will install to the folder you specify to have it download to. Open the Feed The Beast Launcher.exe. It may take a bit at first for it to configure itself. Step 2: Launcher Options. Already own Minecraft? Download it again for Windows, Mac and Linux. Download server software for Java and Bedrock and play with your friends. Same happened with me. It's a problem with the FTB launcher. Download MultiMC, then click 'Import from FTB launcher' then find and select your modpack (if you can't find it, let me know). You can then edit the mods you want active and add mods and all that. It's a bit of a pain, no automatic updating or anything, but it beats doing it all manually.

1. Download the Feed The Beast Launcher

1. Visit the Feed The Beast website here :
   http://www.feed-the-beast.com/
2. Click the “Legacy Windows” link below the button
3. If you’re a Mac or Linux user click the text links
4. The FTB Launcher will be saved to your download folder
5. Create an ‘FTB’ folder, then move the downloaded file there
6. Click to start the launcher

2. Adding your Minecraft User to the FTB Launcher

1. Find the drop-down menu at the bottom of the Launcher
2. Select ‘Create Profile’ from the drop-down
3. Enter your Minecraft Username/Email Address and Password
4. Change the profile name
5. Untick ‘Remember Password’ if you’re using a public computer
6. Click the ‘Add’ button

3. Launching a Modpack

1. Click on the ‘FTB MODPACKS’ or 3RD PARTY PACKS tab
2. Choose a modpack in the list on the left
3. If you need to run an older (or) beta version of a Modpack, click on the drop-down at the top with ‘Recommended’ and select the version of the modpack you want
4. Select your user profile using the drop-down at the bottom
5. Click the ‘Launch’ button to install the modpack
6. Once the FTB modpack is installed it will start automatically

4. Connecting to your FTB server

1. Click on ‘Multiplayer’
2. ‘Click Add Server’
3. Enter a name for your server in the ‘Server name’ box
4. Enter your server details into the ‘Server Address’ box, this is in the format {IP Address}:{Port}, e.g. 255.255.255.255:25565
5. Click ‘Done’, your server will be added to the list
6. Double-click the server to join it

Hint : The number one reason for connection problems is when the modpack’s server and launcher versions don’t match, make sure the version number in the server list matches the one on the launcher. If not change the launcher version or contact support for a free server upgrade.
